Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
Topographic staff prepared a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for the construction of the Leon Hurse Dam along the North Sulphur River in Ladonia, County. The approximately 2.5 mile in length dam will eventually impound upwards of 7,500 acres of water within an 11,600-acre project area. Topographic developed an actionable and adaptable SWPPP for the construction contractor, Granite. One of the key components of this SWPPP was to incorporate in situ soils and natural vegetation buffers as an erosion and sediment control rather than install miles of silt fencing along the perimeter of the project area. Topographic scientists and engineers also prepared a care of water plan that provided staging and erosion and sediment controls along the North Sulphur River to convey and pass stormflows following precipitation events. The Leon Hurse Dam is currently under construction. Topographic, as needed, provides SWPPP BMP oversite to ensure the installed BMPs comply with the BMPs outlined in the SWPPP.

Conversion of Wastewater Lagoons to Wetlands
Topographic provided SUE Level B and A and topographic surveys, civil engineering and environmental services, structural engineering and landscape architectural services. Two (2) existing wastewater lagoons were repurposed as a wetland stormwater quality pond for the treatment of Old Town Erie’s stormwater runoff. The Team assessed the feasibility of receiving nutrient credits through the CDPHE that could be applied to the Town’s North Water Reclamation Facility discharge permit. The water quality pond will also provide a wetland education opportunity. Per the Town of Erie Outfall Systems Plan (OSP) dated January 2014 (ref 1), the existing area tributary to the wetlands comprises the majority of Old Town Erie, having a drainage area of approximately 323 acres. Topographic provided SWMM modeling, rebuilding and calibrating the original model from the OSP. The SWMM model was then modified to provide a diversion structure for the Wetlands.

South Boulder Canyon Ditch Trail Migratory Bird and Eagle / Raptor Survey and Environmental Due Diligence Report
Topographic performed on-site investigations of the proposed area of interest associated with the South Boulder Canyon Ditch Trail, an approximately 2,500 linear feet pedestrian trail located in Boulder County, Colorado. The assessment consisted of walking and visually inspecting and listening for bird species and/or their nests. Findings were summarized in a technical memorandum. During the site investigation, three cup nests were identified, typical of passerine birds, which were determined to be inactive at the time of the assessment. No large platform nests typical of eagles or raptors, or nests associated with migratory birds were identified. An environmental due diligence assessment was also performed to identify whether other potential concerns were located within the proposed project area.
